After a restful night’s sleep, we woke up to another exciting day in Namche Bazaar. Today’s agenda includes exploring the town, ascending to higher altitudes, visiting museums with historical significance, and enjoying breathtaking views of the mountain ranges. In summary, we are acclimatizing to this new (and significant) altitude living.
Namche Bazaar holds a special place in history as the birthplace of the earliest Everest expeditions. Unlike Phakding, this town sprawls magnificently across the Khumbu region at an elevation of 3440 meters.
Our day started with a sumptuous breakfast featuring Champa porridge drizzled with butter and honey – a delightful and energy-packed meal that the Sherpas swear by. Fueled up and ready to go, we set out to visit the Everest view point, despite the cloudy weather caused by late-night rain.
The ascent to the view point takes you up a stone-clad walkway, leading to the three main attractions: the museum, the monastery, and, of course, the Everest view point. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can trek further up for about 2.5 hours to reach the highest cafe in Everest.
At the view point, a grand statue of Tenzing Sherpa warmly welcomes visitors. Unfortunately, the fog prevented us from seeing the majestic mountain ranges, but on clear days, you’re in for a fantastic view that will leave you in awe.
As we descended from the view point, the Sherpa museum came into sight on the right. We highly recommend a visit to this place, with an entrance fee of 250 per person. It holds great historical significance as the starting point of the base camps for Everest expeditions.
Namche Bazaar truly lives up to its name – a bustling bazaar with an array of items catering to all your trekking needs. Whether you’re looking for gear to conquer peaks or casual trekking essentials, you’ll find everything you need here. There are also many fancy items available, and while the prices may be higher than usual due to logistics overhead, you’ll find that they are negotiable.

The beauty of Namche lies not only in its historical importance but also in the mesmerizing views it offers. Despite the cloudy weather, we were fortunate to catch a glimpse of the stunning mountain ranges – a view that left us awe-struck.
